GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Annual Appeal
Helping those who face isolation, despair, and serious illness is a noble mission. Gifts to our Annual Appeal support ongoing resident care initiatives at our nursing homes. Each year a team of volunteers (The Leadership Council Committee) meets to review philanthropic needs and assist in the personal solicitation of new and renewing benefactors. The 2002 Leadership Council Committee was co-chaired by Thomas M. Barney and Paul J. Koessler. Our Annual Appeal takes place in October, November, and December. Please give generously when contacted.

Tribute Gifts
In addition to gifts to the ANNUAL APPEAL, many friends of Niagara Lutheran provide Tribute Gifts in memory of a loved one or to honor special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries. Tribute gifts are always welcome and are greatly appreciated.

Legacy Gifts
Niagara Lutheran's history of quality service provides strength to meet the challenge of providing care for future generations of Western New Yorkers. Benefactors who provide for gifts to Niagara Lutheran beyond their own lifetimes hold a special place in our hearts. Legacies For Life is a special program which recognizes and honors generous individuals who have decided to provide a legacy gift through provisions made in a will, trust, or insurance policy.

Major Gifts and Grants provide substantial support for special initiatives such as the following:

  • Mother House Quality Care Project. The Niagara Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center was established in 1956 as the first free-standing nursing home in Western New York. The center is spotless and very well maintained but new equipment and renovations are needed.

  • Exceptional Caregiver Awards. Caregivers must have excellent technical skills and they must possess many inherent qualities such as integrity, loyalty, compassion, tolerance, and patience. Even with these attributes, providing care can be physically rigorous and emotionally draining. A special fund exists to provide awards and educational scholarships for exceptional caregivers. We want to build this fund to help recruit and retain the very best caregivers.

  • GreenFields Development. Five years ago, The GreenFields was just a dream. Today, this special Continuum of Care Community operates as a testament to Niagara Lutheran's mission of service to the elderly and infirm. The GreenField Health & Rehabilitation Center (GHRC) was recently approved to provide community outpatient rehabilitation services. Funds are needed for the expansion of therapy space and for purchase of additional therapy equipment.

  • Resident Reserve Fund. GreenField Manor features 92 residential apartment homes and GreenField Court provides 49 assisted-living apartments. Residents remit a monthly service fee for their apartment, utilities, meal plan, maintenance, housekeeping, planned activities, and priority access to a wide range of healthcare services. The Niagara Lutheran Health Foundation is establishing a resident reserve fund to help those who may, at some point in time, be unable to remit a monthly service fee.
