When founded in 1956, the Niagara Lutheran Home was the first freestanding nursing facility in Western New York. It was then and is now a not-for-profit, Christian-based organization.
Through the years, the Niagara Lutheran Health System has evolved from a 60-bed nursing facility to its current status as a health system serving people on two campuses. Niagara Lutheran Health System affiliates provide high quality retirement living options and various levels of health care to nearly 500 individuals of all faiths and walks of life on a daily basis and employs more than 800 dedicated, compassionate people.
Lancaster Campus
The GreenFields Continuing Care Community in LancasterServices provided:
- Residential apartment homes
- Assisted living apartments
- Skilled nursing and subacute care
- Respite care
- Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for all types of situations, including cardiac and orthopedic rehabilitation
- Wellness clinic with special programs
Buffalo City Campus
Our Buffalo campus, located in the heart of Buffalo near Canisius College and Sisters Hospital, is comprised of Niagara Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center and the Lutheran Church Home.

- Skilled nursing and subacute care
- Assisted Living
- Alzheimer's & dementia care
Plans are underway to create the city's first continuing care campus at our current location.
